French Cuff Consignment

About French Cuff Consignment

French Cuff Consignment opened in Midtown Sacramento in 2005, run by Darcy McNie and her daughter Corey De Roo. The idea started as a small project between the two of them. Darcy had a long-running interest in the resale side of women's fashion. Corey wanted a shop they could run together. Twenty years later, they're still running it.

What we do

We're a women's-only consignment shop. Most of what's on the floor is everyday wear from name brands: workwear, denim, dresses, knitwear, outerwear. Alongside that is a regular rotation of designer pieces from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Dior, and others.

The designer rotation is the part that keeps customers checking back. We don't have a fixed inventory; what comes through the door determines what's on the floor. A piece can sit for two months or sell in twenty minutes, depending on the season it lands in.

How we pick

We accept consignment by appointment. Not everything we're shown makes the floor. We're looking for pieces in good condition (no significant wear, no smell, no alterations that would make the piece unwearable to most customers) that fit the general aesthetic of the shop.

Designer pieces go through an additional authentication step. We've been doing this long enough to recognize most counterfeits on sight. For the higher-value pieces we verify against the brand's reference materials before listing.

The neighbourhood

Midtown Sacramento has changed considerably since we opened. When French Cuff first arrived, the block was quieter: a few restaurants, a couple of independent boutiques, foot traffic from the residential streets around. Today there's more competition (a good thing for the area, mostly) and more energy on the weekends.

We've stayed because the customer base has stayed loyal. There are families who have been bringing in pieces for over a decade, and customers who came in as twenty-somethings and are now bringing in their teenage daughters' first formal-wear consignments.

What we don't do

Men's clothing, shoes (size variation makes the floor space impossible), fast-fashion brands except where the piece is genuinely vintage. We don't ship. Everything is in-store pickup or local delivery only.

Hours and location

Open Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday and Monday are paperwork days. Specific hours vary slightly by season. Saturday mornings are always busy; Tuesday afternoons are the quietest if you want to browse.

Email [email protected] if you'd like to ask about specific designers, schedule a consignment appointment, or check whether a piece is still on the floor.
